Petro-Canada CareMakers Foundation Grants

The Petro Canada CareMakers Foundation’s vision is a country where family caregivers are valued, recognized and supported. As a newly formed Foundation, we know this is only achieved in partnership with organizations who are experts in their field. To achieve our goal, we are pleased to accept applications for funding from registered Canadian charitable organizations who support family caregivers in Canada.

We are launching three separate grant streams this year.

National grants

National grants are intended to inspire transformational change in the lives of family caregivers across Canada.

We are interested in funding projects or programs that work to address or alleviate the systemic challenges that family caregivers currently face. We will also consider support for thought leadership or research that seeks to illuminate those systemic challenges, provide new insight, suggest innovative solutions or develop new ways of thinking, tools or resources for family caregivers.

Who should apply?

Canadian registered charities who primarily work to support family caregivers as central to their mission, and have the capacity to develop work that is applicable and relevant to a wide cross section of care partners across the country.

Available funding

National grants are single year grants with a maximum value of $300,000.

Exclusions

We are unable to consider applications for the following:

  • advertising
  • a professional sports group or team
  • endowment funds
  • fundraising campaigns or events
  • religious purposes, except secular programs provided by faith-based organizations that are open to any person, regardless of their religious beliefs and without the requirement of a belief in a specific faith to receive services
  • sponsorship of an event
  • support for a specific individual, caregiver or family

Application period and grant announcements

The National Grant application portal is now closed. Thank you very much to everyone who submitted an application. Successful applicants will be notified by mid-October 2021.

Local grants

Local grants provide financial support for organizations who provide direct support to family caregivers in communities across Canada.

We know there are many local organizations across Canada who are providing vital resources and direct support to family caregivers. These resources could range from educational programs, transportation, meal assistance, respite care, emotional, financial and community support, healthcare navigation to other types of vital assistance. It’s our goal to positively impact the lives of family caregivers in communities across the country by providing operational support for these types of local programs.

Who should apply?

Canadian registered charities, often smaller in scale, whose work involves support of family caregivers at the community level.

Available funding

Local grants are single year grants with a maximum value of $7,500.
